The Lost Village is the first movie in the Smurfs franchise reboot based upon the original TV series.

Smurfette (Demi Lovato) is struggling to find her identity, and when she discovers a strange creature in the forest, she is determined to discover who or what it is. Taking Brainy, Hefty and Clumsy with her, Smurfette sets out on the ultimate quest. The evil wizard Gargamel however, has other plans up his sleeve.

It contains some strange atmospheric choices, with an odd forced feminist undertone but there’s enough about friendship to give it some worth. The choice of club anthems as backing tracks is weird and it doesn’t work. The target audience is not one of a group of hard-core clubbers.

There isn’t a huge amount for the rest of the family, or the little ones either for that matter. There are much better choices in Sing or The Lego Batman Movie that should still be showing. Go and watch them. Again if needs be.
